Saturday, March 8th

Today - quite the full day of driving! Got up early after a very late night, and found about 4" of snow on the car. Got ready and headed out onto the road. Thankfully the roads were clear by the time. Did see a ton of semi's in various wrecked stages on the side of the road.

And for some reason, while I was looking at the tourbook for Arkansas and noticed that Graceland wan't too far from Memphis - I had to drive by. I'm not an Elvis fan, so I'm not really sure why I felt compelled to go, but now I can say I've seen it. Here it is - rather boring from the outside, but I wasn't about to pay $32 to take a tour:

Here's Rudy on the banks of the Mississippi in Memphis:

In fact, after crossing the Mississippi from Memphis, TN to Arkansas, there were about five different instances of us being stuck at a complete standstill on highway 40 while the wreckers worked to pull all of the semi's back onto the road. It was at one of these stops that I decided to get out and stretch my legs, when Rudy snuck out behind me and nearly decided to play in traffic on the other side of the highway. Luckily he didn't and I got him back in the car safely!

So I finally arrived in Sallisaw, OK. Staying in a much better hotel than the one last night! Will do a few things around here in the morning, then headed west again. Hopefully I'll make it to New Mexico tomorrow.

Here's today's map:

AHHHHH - at times you can be a mother's nightmare!!! Always up for an adventure - too much like your dad in that aspect! Be safe and have a good time (and take care of the Ruddles too). I am glad that you found the graveyard in the dark. Say Hi to granny for me. Love you, mom
